COVID-19 Closure Updates

On Wednesday, March 25, Governor Baker mandated that all schools be closed until May 4, 2020. 

Swampscott Public Schools first priority is the health and safety of our students and staff. We will use this page to continue to update families about our communications home to families and our trusted resources.  We will continue to communicate with you regularly as new information comes available. Please check back for updates

We encourage anyone-students, adults, and seniors- in need to pick up a grab and go lunch outside of SHS on weekdays from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM during the closure. No one will be turned away.

  • 10th grade ELA MCAS is being postponed – no new date provided
  • Grades 3-8 ELA MCAS is being postponed – no new date provided
  • The May 2nd SATs have been canceled
  • The Commissioner of Education has called the College Board regarding AP Exams – no guidance yet
  • For seniors who took the MCAS retest and are awaiting their results to determine
    graduation criteria, the Commissioner had no guidance as of yesterday but he is
    aware that this is a concern and he will get back to us on this topic.

The Swampscott School District will be closed from March 16th through April 6. Please see the letter below in resources.

We will email information regarding our online resources for enrichment activities early next week.

  • Elementary parent conferences are canceled.
  • Elementary report cards will be delayed.
  • Any students in need will be able to pick up a grab and go lunch Monday-Friday during this closure period. The pickup location is the Swampscott High School side cafeteria door between 11-1PM
  • MIAA Spring Sports Season is suspended until March 30.

5:30PM- All Swampscott Public Schools will be closed for students on Friday, March 13, 2020. Staff are expected to report to their buildings at their usual start times.

11:30 AM: A Home Technology Survey was sent home to all SPS families via Aspen.  Please respond to this survey no later than Friday, March 13th, at noontime.

March 9, 2020 Letter to Families

We are beginning to proactively implement social distancing measures, which is the reason the MANDATORY Spring Athletics meeting is canceled.

Kindergarten Registration packets may be dropped off at the Swampscott Middle School in a designated box at the front door starting Monday, March 16th between the hours of 8:45 AM and 2:00 PM or may be mailed directly to the following address: Swampscott Public Schools Student Services, Attn: Kindergarten Registration, 207 Forest Avenue, Swampscott, MA 01907
